Times beyond the tree
He breathes, he listens, he stops.
He breathes, he listens, he stops.
He starts over.
She lays her head on his chest.
She closes her eyes.
She listens.

He breathes, she smiles and then she feels sad.
One day the breathing will stop.
But then the questions will also stop.
Why? How? For what purpose, what reason?

She lifts up her head.
They look at one another.
They should not know it but they do:
They have been thinking the same thing.
That neither can answer terrifies and reaasures them.

Their eyes choose reassurance over terror.
And so, she lays her head on his chest once again.
