After teaching chemistry for 25 years at the University of California Santa Barbara, I retired in 1992 and set about becoming a birder and a bird photographer. What started as a hobby has now become a profession. For three years I have been supplying a weekly bird photo to go with the bird column published in the Santa Barbara News-Press. I also work as a docent at the Cachuma Lake Nature Center.
