As the northern hemisphere nights grew longer, photographer Ian Chapman and his partner left their home in Dorset, England, for their first spring in the southern hemisphere.
This book tells the story of that four-week trip to New Zealand after 23 hours of flight across several countries and time zones.
The narrative unfolds through a series of landscape photographs that aim to convey in fleeting impressions the sense of wonder at being in a strange land on the other side of the world.
All the images were made using simple rangefinder film cameras, and the negatives edited and printed in Ian's Dorset darkroom.
