About the Book
I was joy-riding one Saturday morning in early September along the Brighton Line. I knew that two stations were closed for renovation of their south-bound platforms, but I was surprised to see that those closed platforms had been completely demolished. A couple weeks later, when I learned that the Avenue H, J, and M stations were going to have their south-bound platforms renovated, I guessed that those platforms would also be completely demolished. Avenue H and M would be closed in the south-bound direction, but Avenue J would remain open in both directions, courtesy of a temporary platform being constructed over the north-bound express track. This temporary platform would be used for south-bound service during the renovation. I decided that I would photograph the demolition of the south-bound platform at the Avenue J station to create an historic record of the event.
