About the Book
"A distance that keeps soup warm".
A Chinese proverb which is also a commonly held ideal for families in China, relating to the maximum distance children should move away after leaving home. Compared to what is considered the norm for Western families, Chinese families maintain a significantly closer relationship with their parents and siblings with nine percent of children living in the same neighborhood as their parents, forty-eight percent living just a twenty minute walk away and twenty-five percent of children having daily contact with their parents.
