This book is a poem illustrated with photographs from near and far, collected over many years. The source of inspiration for this poem lies within eleven years of paragliding experience. However, searching for self is a lifelong venture with many dimensions, and this poem, along with the images chosen to illustrate it, explore some of these.

About the Author

Jerry Schimke
jschimke  Davis, California, USA
A born traveler, adventurer and lifetime seeker of experience, I’ve carried a camera with me for more than five decades, collecting thousands of images. My best pictures occurred when my camera and I just happened to be in a particular location, at a particular moment, when the subject matter and the light combined happily to form a scene allowing creation of a memorable image. Writing was always part of my 34-year professional career. However, my creation of poetry was at best, sporadic. The text in this book resulted from a recent class assignment to write a poem on the topic “Where I’m From.” Illustrating the poem with images from my collection was an idea that woke me early one morning with such urgency that I immediately started to identify those images which, in my mind, would suitably embellish the writing. I hope this book is a long-term source of pleasure, insight, and inspiration, to those who pick it up and ponder it. Jerry Schimke, October, 2007
