About the Book
This is not a portfolio. Rather, it is simply a collection of photographs that I've shot over the last 5 years culled together, from the abyss of my growing collection of hard drives so that I might enjoy them more frequently. To some extent, these images chronicle my foray into photography, beginning with landscapes and travel photography, and moving into portraiture, weddings, fashion, beauty, and commercial work. The common denominator here is the use of black and white photographs exclusively - a treatment to which I am unabashedly partial to. I like the stark contrasts, and the gradations of tones from white to black. I like the unique interpretational abilities it offers. Indeed, beautiful black and white photography doesn’t attract with a play of colors. Here, close attention to composition, lighting, perspective and the context it is shot in are important. One can read a black and white photograph, instead of just viewing the subject matter.
