Bonny Lhotka has played a critical roll in the world of digital printmaking. Through experimentation that is typical of a scientist, she has developed new techniques and process that combine such practices as fresco painting and laser
engraving. With the tools of art history at her disposal, Lhotka is a modern-day alchemist, pioneering composite methodologies and digital craftsmanship. Like her medieval counterparts, Lhotka is guided by science, philosophy and mysticism; often incorporating the four elements of fire, water, earth and air into her work.

Modern mixed media photography and painting take on new meaning in the hands of the artist. By exploring technology to push the boundaries of conventional photography, mixed media photography and painting these media take on new meaning in the hand of the artist. Lhotka is at the forefront of contemporary artists.

She is the recipient of the Smithsonian/Computerworld Technology in the Arts Award. As one of three Artists of the Digital Atelier, Lhotka was invited by Marylyn Kushner of the Brooklyn Art Museum to show a selection of art work and demonstrate how original digital prints are created and combined with traditional printmaking processes at opening of the 27th Print National.

Lhotka has co-authored the Digital Art Studio: Techniques for combining inkjet printing with traditional art materials, Watson-Guptill (spring 2004 release) by Karin Schminke,
