Fluke

From the book jacket:

"This project started as a fluke.

I wasn't supposed to start shooting when I did. It wasn't planned, but it happened. On a gloomy day in November of 2004 I picked up my dad's Canon 10D, went outside into my back alley, and took a picture of a telephone pole. I liked it. I took some more random and obscure shots. At the time, my mentor Kurt Simonson had started his Masters in Fine Arts photo project called Shared Horizons, which was going to be a collaboration with my brother Louie and our friend Justin. Having never shot with a digital SLR before, I liked the results I achieved. I showed the shots to Kurt, and apparently he liked them too - he asked me to join in the collaboration, and I jumped on board without hesitation. Thus started the three year journey that this book documents.

The first thirty or so pages follow my experience in the Shared Horizons project. It then branches out to when I started shooting outside of the project, on youth group events and my trip to Paris and Burkina Faso.

What follows next is not a fluke. I found my own voice as a photographer and set in motion the path I am on today. Photography continues to be a great passion of mine, and I'm looking forward to seeing where that path will lead me."
