Once a force to be reckoned with, Venice is now a city on life support. Though she is slowly being reclaimed by the sea, an undying affection and tide of tourists keeps Venice temporarily afloat. Whether she will be around to entrance us for another 100 years or 1,000 is anyone's guess. In the meantime, the city continues to be lovingly restored in the face of daily decay. And thanks to artists of all sorts, Venice will always exist in some impressionable form to inspire our dreams. If not our memories. For those, one must go and experience her charms firsthand. So if you've not been, get there soon. Before either you or she is gone.
