Memories (2007-2008) is a series of family photographs which have decayed naturally through time. The abstract faces and places represented become a dynamic illustration of the relationship between memory and death. Through this series Van Der Hout explores issues of mortality and self representation. In Memories Van Der Hout shows us the beauty and the frailty of the traditional photographic image.
