"What's Inside-Exploring the Potential for Change" the 5th annual 100 Artists show at the Mary Lou Zeek Gallery in Salem, Oregon. This year, participating artists received a wooden box through the mail and were asked to use this as their starting point for their piece of art, with a completed maximum size of 8" x 8". Each box was sent "as is", and was not packaged, but rather processed directly by postal service firsthand. The stamps and addresses on the back remain a part of the artwork for identification and for evidence of the actual mailing. See how 100 artists take on this challenge, share their talents to support a common cause. Artists exploring their potential for change.
“Mary Lou Zeek, an individual artist and owner of Mary Lou Zeek Gallery, has animated the community of artists she represents and the business community of merchants through her innovative retailing and community projects. Zeek has engaged artists working in all media through her invitational exhibitions, often organized around a central community theme and frequently benefiting the community organization working to address these issues. She operates at the highest ethical standard, giving artists she represents excellent promotion and solid financial return.
Through the community events held around special exhibits, she has galvanized other local small businesses, many woman-owned, to feature the arts or special works of art in places of business.
