"Partical Maps" was produced in conjunction with Elise Wagner's March 2008 solo exhibition at Butters Gallery in Portland, Oregon. The exhibition is part of Wagner's ongoing study of science in relation to art. Wagner's paintings depict particles colliding and igniting in a bubble chamber, at random, creating unpredictable shapes and motions. These images stand as symbols for the seemingly illogical and arbitrary order inherent in today's uncertain world. Wagner's paintings evoke the celestial, the philosophical and the emotional.
