January in Minnesota made it an easy decision when asked, “Would you like to go to Florida with us for a week?” I had been out in sub-zero weather trying to capture images of Trumpeter Swans for my photo-book “Swans Psalms.” I told my wife Rita that we would be shooting egrets and alligators, she was not impressed. I never thought that I would fall in love with Florida’s brown pelicans. They are a strange and wonderful blend of comic animation, prehistoric form, and wise elegance. It would take a year or more of really concentrated shooting to capture the essence of this bizarre yet remarkable bird. Intelligent creation, no question about it; this is just one more indication of our God’s masterful and humorous, creative hand. My Web site is: http://www.r-tree.com

I incorporated in 1990 to author corporate presentations via digital illustration and animation. I also was called upon to do corporate product photography. This brought me to doing more and more riverscape and nature photography.
