From Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south, covering the four main islands and many of the countries national parks. Around the largely unspoilt alpine peaks, spewing volcanoes and emerald green crater lakes of the highlands that, until recently, were the domain of the religious and the gods.
This book is an attempt to portray the mountain spirit of this rugged and fascinating country.
