We've all come from a family of sorts, be it functional or disfunctional. Mine, luckily, was functional - a small, one-child family who loved and supported each other and grew together, laughed together, played together. There is no life strife here, no deep difficulties, only sweet memories of a time passed, all glued together by - a Toyota Land Cruiser.
Now come on, right? And an old Land Cruiser, at that. A real stretch here. And worse, the author has conversations with it??? No, sorry... I've got better things to do with my life than read a book about some goon who talks to his... wait, how can a hunk of Japanese junk possibly impact a family in SW Montana? Well, for starters, it's not "junk" and you have to realize that our emotional motors are not tied only to other people... ever lost a dog or a cat? This short book explores our relationship with our loved ones, of all kinds.

Absolutely loved The Land Cruiser Chronicles. This is a touching & heartwarming story about man and his car. The car or "Slant Eye" as the Land Cruiser is referred to has a personality of its own. When you read a story and are convinced by the writer's words that this car is real and you cry over the epilogue and the car's demise - that is the sign of a very good writer. Kudos Steve Hulse for a great read!
