About the Book
The Eldorado Motor Hotel served travelers at the corner of Kingsway and Nanaimo Street in Vancouver, Canada, from 1962 to 2010.
For some time, its bar was a popular hangout for locals and notorious motorcycle gangs. Although technically closed, the motel briefly reopened and was used as a hostel for budget conscious tourists during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.
This collection of photographs was taken shortly before it said goodbye to the world. A 423 unit, condominium and town house complex, is scheduled to be completed in 2013. As a tribute, one of the new towers will be named, "The Eldorado."
