About the Creator
In the early 1970's I became very interested in photography and decided to learn what I could about the art form. I'm a self-taught photographer and have studied the work of Ansel Adams, Minor White, Edward Weston, Henri Cartier - Bresson and a number of others of great discipline in the art of photography. My intention was to try to understand what it took to become proficient in attaining excellence in this field. Learning to process film and making prints in the darkroom was just the beginning of getting the feel of things. I realized that understanding the properties of film and chemistry, and choice of papers for enlargements was crucial to acquire optimum results. More than anything else, it was most important to learn to see and understand what I was looking at in a scene, to discern what made a good composition, and in the end, a good photograph.
