You can be taught to use the technology of photography but you must learn to see on your own.

I’ve been lucky, I think. I’ve always “seen” things. Juxtapositions. Angles. Shadows. Patterns. Shapes. Perhaps it’s an inborn instinct. The hard part is to capture what I see. There’s rarely a second chance.

Sometimes it’s a function of shooting a lot and looking for the pictures later. Sometimes things just leap out at you. Most often the best photographs are spontaneous. Rarely does the premeditated have any soul.

This collection is made up primarily of images from 2004-2006, though I've included a couple of oldies from the late 60s and early 70s because I believe they show a continuity of vision and style.

This is a revision and expansion of the original volume titled "Realities".
