The photos in this book were taken in the summer of 2007 on a trip to Iceland across the Atlantic Ocean, during a short stay on the Faroes and while travelling through Iceland itself.
The ever present light of the midsummer sun coloured land, sea and air. The overwhelming clarity of that etching light, whose transparency and purity can only be found on this latitude, has produced many thousands of images. They tell a story of emptiness, space, fire and ice.
A selection of the photographs was arranged according to the elements EARTH, WATER, FIRE and AIR.
ELEMENTS | AIR is the first in a series of four books of photographs on the elements.
De foto's in dit boek zijn gemaakt in de zomer van 2007 op weg naar IJsland over de Atlantische Oceaan, tijdens een kort verblijf op de Faeröer en tijdens een rondreis op IJsland. Het altijd aanwezige licht van de midzomerzon kleurde het land, de zee en de lucht. De verbijsterende helderheid van dat etsende licht dat alleen op deze breedtegraad zo zuiver en schoon is, heeft vele duizenden beelden opgeleverd. Ze vertellen een verhaal van leegheid, ruimte, vuur en ijs. Een selectie van de foto's is ingedeeld naar de elementen AARDE, WATER, VUUR en LUCHT.
Behalve dit fotoboek ELEMENTS | AIR zullen er nog drie delen verschijnen over de andere elementen.
