About the Book
I joined a group of North Americans to observe ten projects administered by local Guatemalan and Honduran grass-roots non-governmental organizations (NGO's). This book is an attempt to briefly share my experience and provide a visual account of their important work.
About the Creator
Douglas R. Smith: Professor Emeritus of Art at Modesto Junior College, California Lecturer, Art Department, Southern Oregon University, Ashland, Oregon He earned his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at California College of Arts, and two Bachelor of Arts degrees at University of California, Davis. During his 30 years of teaching, his efforts included promotion of environmental and social justice projects, including traveling to rural areas of Central America to photograph for NGO promotional purposes. He led photography workshops to Europe, Mexico, and regions of California. Previously, Smith was staff Photo Archivist at the Southern Oregon Historical Society, 1980-86, where he presently volunteers in a similar role. HIs work has been published and reviewed in several magazines and online journals.
