Anyone who knows me or has seen much of my photography knows I'm not your typical nature photographer. I'm much more at home making portraits of abandoned furniture or capturing the abstract patterns found in everyday urban life, still, there's something about sunflowers that always captures my attention. I can't pass them by without at least a second look. Their yellow petals certainly stand out in against any backdrop, but that by itself is not the reason for their allure. Maybe it's because they look just like that first flower we learn to draw as a child and perhaps it's just that child-like simplicity that I enjoy most of all.
