About the Book
In spanning 37 years of photographing the World Trade Center's Twin Towers, it's inevitable not to see a wide variety of photographic styles and effects, from grainy Black and White, Color negative Film and slide, digital capture and even outlandish photoshop effects. However, it wasn't my intent to only showcase this selection from my archive, but to truly pay tribute to a remarkable landmark, which under normal circumstances should have stood for centuries.
Unfortunately, they were gruesomely destroyed after only 30 years of having graced the Manhattan Skyline. Not only were they stunning and majestic, but they also provided a compass, a point of reference anywhere you were around the city. You just needed to locate them with your eye and you immediately found your bearings.
They were a beautiful subject to photograph, constantly changing with the light of day or night, or as an impressive background for portraiture and fashion. I also had the pleasure of working in the North Tower for almost five years as a DJ on the 107th Floor, and have taken a couple of thousand photographs of the party scene there. I hope to publish another volume in the near future dedicated to the nightlife 107 floors above the rest of the city.
