About the Book
This a tribute to my father, Joseph Goldberg, who served in WWII as an Army infantry soldier in France and Germany.
Using microfiched Morning Reports to chart troop movements, I connected the dots of these troop movements and the map of his journey was revealed. I filled in each moment with further research from what I could find in the National Archives after the great fire in St. Louis, Mo. in 1973 and troop website narratives.
Recollections of his and others in his unit serve to draw a picture of his four months on the front line and his subsequent capture as POW, and liberation from the 45th Division.
This tribute is a supplement to an interview with him for the Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress by his nephew David Miller.
