On April 18, 2008 Pope Benedict XVI, leader of the world’s 1.1 billion Catholics, came to St. Joseph’s Church Yorkville, New York City. It was the only neighborhood parish the Pope visited during his first Papal trip to the United States.
St. Joseph’s has a long musical tradition which began with the installation of its grand Müller and Abel organ in 1895. Musical director, Stephen Black has burnished that tradition to a high gloss and, on this historic occasion, led the St. Joseph’s Singers and the Parish Choir through their most important performance.
No one privileged to be there for those 30 golden minutes will ever forget.
We hope you enjoy sharing our unique view of this wondrous event.
