In a trip organized by Wilderness Travel and with our good friends Mark and Vicki we traveled the length of China from Beijing to about 25 miles from Tajikistan, and 100 miles from Afganistan along the old silk road. Travel was by plane, train, bus, camel, and donkey. We saw the Great Wall, the Terra Cotta Warriors, experienced deserts, old ruins, bazaars and 25,000 ft mountains. We learned much about the fascinating minority cultures of the western provinces.
