Art should invoke an emotional reaction. Lust and fear are
two sides of the same coin. There is beauty in everything...
Tanya Simpson of RockstarVanity Photography has spent the first three years of her career working with intriguing people in the fascinating realms of alternative entertainment; from modern pin-up beauties, tattooed fetish models and ballet-dancers-turned-burlesque-performers to theatrical effects artists and horror film actresses.
During this time, she has photographed faces and bodies, sharp things and shiny things, angels and demons, to create a collection of images spanning the genres of alternative glamour, subversive fashion, portraiture, horror and conceptual art photography.
Violently Beautiful is her first book, an artistic reaction to an increasingly sterile society, an exploration of conflicting emotions and a personal quest to express a strongly-held belief that true beauty is found in the pushing of boundaries and the challenging of perceptions.
