URBAN HAIKU

The book is an illustration of "Furabo" and " Wabi". "Fuga" represents a refinement of living. As H. E. Davey in his "The Japanese Way of the Artist" points out, "the concept stems from a profound appreciation of and closeness to nature." As for Wabi, " it is the recognition that beauty can be found informally, even in the depths of poverty" . So "Furabo" indicates "a person who roams about, unattached, carried like a slender piece of cloth fluttering in the wind." Urban Haiku's photographs are visual haiku's gathered over a few brief days of spring along 7th Avenue in Vancouver's Fairview Slopes. The beauty of falling cherry blossoms like our fleeting existence is exquisite where ever it dwells. Here are some of those moments captured on windshields, gutters, car hoods or between rocks.
