About the Book
Cheesy Jokes
What is serious and what is sleazy? What is important and what is fleeting? The collection called "Cheesy Jokes" can be considered as the "vaudevillian archive" of the group of people, the closest friends of mine with whom I spent very intensive period of my life between the age of twenty and thirty. This collection of photographies includes much of cheesy humor, absurdity, bizarre scenes, and obscene shows, which surely belong to the time of growing up. This period ended. Today, my friends as well as I have the children, wives, and family lives. However, to do the things without reason—to climb up the tree just so, to let a beard grow just so, to get off the trousers just so, or to put on a mask and be somebody else for a while—probably attracts anybody of us. The topic of identity and masks in photography is very popular. I could write about this topic as about serious, may be it is, may be it is not. For "Cheesy Jokes" the matter of (un)importance is definitely inessential, they would laugh at it. That is why they are cheesy jokes, and so are my photographies. Fuck off identity! Let life live!
