The ebb and flow of the ocean along Fort Lauderdale's famous beaches is not the only force in a constant state of transition - so too is its infrastructure. First a popular retirement destination, then a mecca for spring breakers, Fort Lauderdale is now a multi-cultural community and part of one of the fastest growing counties in Florida. However, for the first year in nearly a decade, the area has started to see a rise in families leaving again. Evidence of transition is everywhere, and the old and the new and the staid and the diverse live comfortably among each other under subtropical climes and hues. The following images are just a few examples of a city in constant transition.
