About the Book
This is a story of the interesting travels of Thomas Boundy and his descendants. Leaving his home in England in the 1870s, he made the hazardous journey to New Zealand as a missionary and lay preacher. He sent for and married his fiancé Mary Jane Seymour, and they started their family in New Zealand. He returned to England, then emigrated to the United States, becoming the editor of a small-town newspaper in Pennsylvania. When news of the Klondike gold strike reached him, he gathered two of his sons and a future son-in-law to try to make their fortune there. This book is the result of their decision to take a camera on that daunting journey to a hostile place, where they took half a hundred pictures. The author, his great-grandson, is finally doing justice to that effort by printing, from glass slides they made, many of those pictures here. The pictures tell of how a family legacy was formed. Not only is it a display of the adventures they had, but it captures the memories of how they were passed down to Boundy generations.
