About the Book
This written analysis looks at ways that ruins, can be re-appropriated whilst preserving and creating new layers of emotional connection. It does this through two case studies, Battersea Power Station in London and Duisburg Industrial Park in Germany. The designer’s perception of the landscape’s future varies from the sense of place that is perceived by viewers and users in the landscape’s actual lifetime. The two case studies are industrial ruins that have an impression of ‘pastness’.
