This is a small sampling of images from an ongoing project which has spanned close to twenty years. The main theme of the project is the documentation of buildings in demise. I think it is important to make a photographic representation of these buildings before destruction, restoration, or major renovation.
I believe that there is a big difference between preservation and restoration. My goal is to preserve these structures photographically, to essentially freeze time and stop the progression of decay.
Fifty percent of the structures in this portfolio are no longer in existence. The remaining fifty percent have been moved, cleaned up, restored or renovated. In each case the landscape has been significantly altered.
