An account by environmental artist, Linda Gordon, of her year spent as artist-in-residence in rural Northumberland.

Full-colour illustrations of her work and the surrounding landscape, together with background information and diary extracts, all add up to a lyrical and evocative picture of this magnificent part of the world.

About the Author

Linda Gordon
freepassage  Devon, England
I make work about 'place', particularly in rural areas. I like to immerse myself in my surroundings, and allow the forces of nature to work upon me. Mostly this results in temporary sculptural installations, using local earth materials. These are contemplative pieces, designed to give us all a sense of being at home on the earth. My overall practice is wide-ranging however, and also includes writing and photography. Always it is about our position as an intrinsic part of living nature.
