This collection of 36 colorful Tiki portraits attempts to shed light on a lost and forgotten world. Some exist in plain view among the throng of civilization. Others are shrouded in mystery and deadly intentions, born witness by no more than the wildest of beasts for centuries. The power and energy in all of them is palpable and each has its own special characteristics and story to tell.
Chet Phillips enjoys presenting his slightly off center view of the world through his digital illustration. Receiving a BFA in Painting and Drawing he ventured into the world of commercial illustration using the traditional tools of airbrush, color pencils and scratch board. They were replaced by a computer and the natural media software Painter(TM) in 1992 and it has become his primary tool for creating "digital woodcuts" to date. He's had the privilege of working for clients in the advertising, design, publishing, editorial and corporate fields and for companies such as American Airlines, Workman Publishing, The New York Times, The ASPCA and Warner Brothers, to name a few.
