Crostini are slices of lightly toasted bread with various toppings, served as antipasti to whet the appetite for what is to follow ... and what is to follow is delicious. Before almost every meal we ordered a plate of mixed crostini - a little bit of chicken liver pate, a slice of prosciutto, spread with black leaf kale and olive oil, mushroom sauce, sliced tomato and basil ... the list is endless.
I can't offer you edible crostini, but here is a photographic version from Florence and beyond.
Buon appetito!
