Often times the proverb, "Hammer down the nail that sticks out," is used to advocate persecution of individualists, and the "Ladies of Tokyo" are a sharp contrast to conformist ideals of many cultural taboos. This photojournalistic story celebrates Tokyo's modern sexual rebellion, while testing the traditional heart beat of Japanese society.
