Photographs produced by way of digital and medium-format cameras during July and August 2008. A spellbinding and spectacular place, nothing quite prepares you for it. However, change is happening and so my title is a reference to how globalisation is not yet as conspicuous as it is elsewhere. Certainly, it seems that the kids in Havana would choose a Dolce and Gabana rather than a Che T-shirt.

I started taking photographs sometime in the late 1970s. My first degree was at the Polytechnic of Central London on one of the earliest photo-arts based courses and was taught by staff including Victor Burgin, John Goto, Simon Watney and Gus Wylie. I completed a Masters at the University of Sheffield in Post-16 Education and Training Policy and have worked in education since the late 1980s. I also make music, some of which can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/peekaboobebop
