About the Book
Book Three: "In Which P. Dunk Takes Up Poetry and Wins a Surprize"
In the third of P. Dunk Skiddlewink's adventures, "In Which P.Dunk Takes Up Poetry and Wins a Surprize", you will not only be stuck with P. Dunk, the desert lizard, yet again, but also most all the folks in Dry Gulch Canyon and, introducing LaVerne and Vinnie Buzzard. This you gotta see.
P. Dunk gets a swelled head, egged on by his new literary agents, Vinnie and Verne. When they recognize P. Dunk's hidden talent for poetry, they plan how P. Dunk can make them a load of dough. P. Dunk, as usual, doesn't have a clue, but all of his friends do.
This time, it's Carl Highcliff, the Raven, who racks his birdbrain for a scheme that might free P. Dunk from the clutches of the Buzzards, while at the same time, teach him a lesson once and for all – a desert lizard more stuck on himself, you've never seen.
Is this one really worth it, you ask? Haven't you had enough of Mr. P. Dunk Skiddlewink yet? Well, if you haven't, after you get a load of P. Dunk dressed to the nines in his bowler and his cane, you probably will have – had enough that is. But what the heck, I figure it's worth it, just to see Mr. Skiddlewink learn the meaning of true friendship, and that a friend like Charlie Coyote is worth more than a bazillion bucks.
Ages: P. Dunk Skiddlewink is appropriate for reading fun from 4-16 years old. It's a mixture of Winnie the Pooh meets Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam meets the true beauty of the Southwest American Desert. The characters and their environment are educationally accurate as to life in the desert of the Colorado Plateau (Southern Utah and Northern Arizona) and is a fun teaching companion for any Parent who wants to relive wildlife sightings with their children or prepare them for an upcoming trip to this glorious area full of stunning National Parks (such as Grand Canyon National Park, Zion, Arches, Canyonlands, Lake Powell and similar state parks).
