It's always a pleasure to see Randy Magnus show up with cameras in hand and a cheerful smile on his face.
After documenting these Obon Festivals for so many years, the dancers and the drummers look forward to seeing his presents, for knowing that the events will be cherished and documented, appreciated and preserved.
So I hope you will enjoy the precious moments these images show us, and the culture they represent as we honor and remember those who had passed away in the past year.
In costume, in dance, in music, in food, and in setting the Bon Dances help keep the Japanese/ Hawaiian Buddhist culture
vibrate and alive.
And I trust you can see all of this and more in these wonderful photographs by our local photographer/artist/ documentation and friend, Randy Magnus.
