About the Book
Ex-Static features a striking body of over 50 hand-built radios and drawings by self-taught Chicago artist George Kagan, produced over the past 14 years. Included are sets that range from small battery-powered units to towering juke box inspired pieces. Throughout his decade and a half building radios, Kagan also produced an archive of striking drawings, which act as concept sketches, schematics, and documentation. The book contains a curator statement by Erik L. Peterson and Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford, and an essay by art critic Robyn Farrell.
