After 43 years of creative living, Santa Monica, California based artist David Hinnebusch celebrates his efforts painting, drawing, and collage making with a 280 page monograph* containing over 400 images of selected artworks created in his unique style between the years 1998 and 2008.
With a forward by Los Angeles Artist and teacher Lisa Adams (remembers student Hinnebusch as the potential "nightmare"), this "tome" contains four sections: A short whimsical biography and then several pages of images and art from his childhood and teenage years through his punk rock adventures and final entry into art school. Next comes the main chapters of Paintings and mixed works, Drawings, and a section of pieces hanging in homes and businesses internationally.
While primarily interested in the female form, Mr. Hinnebusch often takes what he call "Faux Realism" or "The L.A. Way" art style and breaks over and into various personal and semi- autobiographical subjects local and humane from the ocean surf, to loves (his 1970 Chevy Pick- up truck for instance), to ancient and American histories, of war and civic interests (like "texting and starbucking while driving") to his body of self- portraits as "The Naked Artist" and his life as a singer in a punk rock band (His band Entropy recently released a 7" vinyl record available from Bad Idea Music www.badideamusic.com and should fit perfectly under the cover of this book!).
David Hinnebusch was recently named "The Outsider" by The LA-WEEKLY "New L.A. People in 2008" Issue, http://www.laweekly.com/2008-05-15/news/the-outsider/
Mr. Hinnebusch commented wryly on the title by saying that "An 'Outsider' is a surfer who waits out past the break for a big 'set' to come in because they don't want to get caught 'inside' ..and wants first shot at the larger waves... so if that's what that means, then I'm an 'outsider.'"
