About Will Thomas Learning my craft as a news photographer on the streets of Milwaukee, Chicago and Woodstock during the tumultuous 'Sixties, I apprenticed in large-format photography in the mid-Seventies, before opening Canada's first west coast photographic gallery - the Mind's Eye - in Vancouver's Gastown. I later worked as a “photog” for the Vancouver Sun, before embarking on an eight-year Pacific photographic voyage aboard my backyard-built trimaran. My color illustrations from the South Pacific, Japan and China have appeared in more than 50 publications worldwide, with my accompanying articles translated into French, Dutch and Japanese. During Desert Storm, I worked with a three-man environmental emergency response team responding to and documenting the world's biggest ecological disaster. My video documentary “Eco War” aired extensively on the CBC, with clips also appearing on CNN and NBC, before winning the 1991 US Environmental Film Festival Award. -Will Thomas
