About the Creator
Punchy O'Guts, also known as Amy Martin, is a writer, a mother, and a rollergirl. She has more than five years experience as a competitive skater, more than seven as a writer, and more than thirteen as a mother. Punchy earned a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts at Penn State University and an MFA in Creative Writing at Stonecoast. She grew up in southwestern Pennsylvania and moved to Portland, Maine in 2004 to pursue a career in journalism. Punchy joined Maine Roller Derby in March of 2006. She organized and managed bout production for three years and worked as the marketing director for two. She serves as president of the league's board of directors, the webmistress, a representative for WFTDA, a member of the training committee, and a captain of The Port Authorities, the league's all-star team. Punchy has skated for the all-star team since its inception in 2008 and remains the only original member still competing. She proudly serves as a team captain and most often plays as pivot.
