About the Book
80 years ago a small group of Sierra Club climbers were introduced to modern climbing techniques and immediately put these new skills to use. Before Goretex , before nylon, and before carabiners, these pioneers used their wits, experience, and the most primitive equipment to attempt what had previously been considered unclimbable. Here we commemorate these pioneers and celebrate the 99th birthday of the last man standing, Glen Dawson, with his own recently discovered photographs.
