About the Book
When Ethel Allen got married in 1915, she kept a detailed journal about her entire wedding experience. In it she describes seeing her future husband for the first time, pre-wedding parties, the day of the wedding, gifts, what people wore, tales about her honeymoon, and what was going on in Chicago when the newlyweds returned home. Tragically, Ethel died less than ten months later, but she left behind this story of what getting married was like for a bride almost a century ago.
