Martin Field is an art teacher working in a comprehensive school in Sheffield.
He has taken photographs since first owning a camera as a child in the '60s.
His first 'proper' camera was a Russian Zenith SLR which with sublime irony chose to break down in Leningrad. This was his first trip abroad and resulted in a set of transparencies with a white edge where the shutter jammed. For his 21st birthday he was given a Praktika which was a great step up. With his first real wage after student penury he bought an Olympus. Those were heady days, with an OM2 and later an OM4. All these treasured cameras are now replaced with a digital SLR and more significantly a computer with that ubiquitous editing software. Is it wrong to crop? Is it cheating to mess with the picture afterwards? He doesn't care as long as he gets the picture he wanted.
