About the Book
The product of five years of river trips down the Colorado through Grand Canyon, this is a glimpse via the lens and the pen at nature’s grandest cathedral of light and stone. It is my effort to impart on others a small slice of the sublimity I have had the good fortune to experience in my time at the Canyon.
In addition to my thoughts, which focus on the river trip experience, I have included several essays from turn of the century notables. People for whom this was still a truly novel sight and had a flair for metaphor.
This will not tell you HOW to visit Grand Canyon, but it will hopefully tell you something about WHY you should visit and what it has come to mean to the many that now and forever heed the call of the Canyon.
