About the Book
Butterflies continue to fascinate me. I’m a sucker for their symmetry and the intricate nature of their colorful designs, and of course, their ease of flight.
Winged creatures do have an intrinsic appeal to me—I envy their ability to take off and fly at will.
This project combines design elements of two different types of winged creatures. The source material for the birds was the famous Audubon illustrations. I took great liberty with altering them to suit my purposes, and I’m really pleased with the outcomes--they lent themselves so perfectly to my vision of imaginary butterfly patterning. Perhaps the master himself would be or is turning over in his grave, but alas, he is dead and I’m not.
