About the Book
In 2008 seven chimpanzees were rescued by Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest. Each year, they grow stronger and more confident in their sanctuary home. Year four presented some challenges with a wildfire engulfing the sanctuary grounds and Burrito’s diagnosis of congestive heart failure. But the chimpanzees serve as a lesson to us all and take each day as a new adventure. The introduction of the book covers all of the developments of the chimpanzees’ fourth year of freedom from biomedical research and the pet and entertainment industries. The rest of the pages are filled with photos that capture the spirit of these amazing individuals and illustrate what sanctuary means to them. All proceeds from the sale of this book contribute to the life-long care Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest provides for rescued chimpanzees and educational programs advocating for all great apes.
